It's time consuming but keep nda fun of you're into DIY. Mine took about 2-3 months but some are quicker, others are way longer. Also, you have to make sure it's silicate free (silica sand). Mine shows >.1% silica but I still had a minor cyano outbreak on each piece.

Maybe some, but no. I think I need more fish. I'm going to have to start dosing nitrates and maybe magnesium. Calcium and alkalinity seem to be staying up but the magnesium keeps dipping...
Some buffering shinanagins then? It's a big tank for what you have in it.
