Hi, this is my second attempt to get my tank up and running I had to shut my tank down due to moving and storage etc.

it has been up for about 12 weeks and stable with a few fish, some snails and 5 corals, softies and 2 skeletons from my LFS who recommended them they are only frags.

I have been having problems getting my water chemistry correct and stable.

Red Sea Reefer 350 using Red Sea coral pro salt and Red Sea supplements both liquid and powder. (with the powder is it best to mix in RO water and add if so what ratio or add straight to water)?

Test Results yesterday. i am aiming for the mixed reef targets recommended by Red Sea? Do you agree with these parameter?

KH 13.2, (target 11.5)
Calcium 400, (target 450)
Magnesium 800, (target 1350)

Phosphate is about 0.2 maybe slightly over, I do have a long hair green algae problem only on rocks that I aim trying to rectify without chemicals (I kept large freshwater tanks for 20 years + and managed this) now a 350L marine is making that look like preschool! I have a small blue tang and lawnmower blenney.

I have carbon and phosphate in bags in my filter socks, was considering getting a phosphate reactor????

Other parameters are normal.

I would appreciate help and a program or steps to get tank parameters correct without overdosing or upsetting corals anymore.

TY Mark

Ca and mag see low for coral pro. Coral pro is going to have elevated alk, ca and mag

Have you double checked results? How are you mixing?

First off in a tank that new you shouldn't be having to dose anything. Your salt should provide the #s you are shooting for especially if its Red Sea Pro Salt. What kits are you using to test with? And what LFS is selling "skeletons"????

I would switch fron RSCP to blue bucket. Your target alk is a bit high for a beginner mixed reef. Pro salts are really for high demand systems.
Blue bucket mixes closer to NSW and you want your alk target around 8.

I am using Red Sea salts, mixing with RO for about 36 hours then topping up. Using Red Sea testing kits?

Are you using mixed salt water for top off water? That would explain you high #s. When water evaporates, salt doesn't. Just use straight RODI water for top offs.
