Man, I know the theory behind those beneficial bacterial supplements and know that a lot of people have used them. I don't mean to be rude in any way BUT...
I'm just a bit leery of dosing any sort of bacteria into my tank that doesn't come in on live rock and here's why:
bacteria in a closed container will not stay viable for THAT long. Where's the source of oxygen?
Do I ween off of it? You dose these bacteria into there and they are supposed to help consume the nutrients that are giving you issues but what happens when you stop dosing the bacteria? The nutrients are still there, aren't they? If not, where did they go? If you water change the extra bacteria out, then why not just water change the nutrients out without adding the bacteria? Any product that bills itself as allowing me to do fewer water changes is something I immediately stay away from.

See...these are my concerns.

Having said that, I have dosed Microbacter7 and didn't see any ill effects but, like I said, I wasn't consistent so I stopped.

Mel do you need some salt mix?
Yes, please!! Where can we meet up? Is AM at all convenient for you? I could give Jake some money and you could drop it off whenever is convenient.

Also, I'm out west near Weisgarber on Tuesdays/Thursday/Friday night and all day Saturday (right beside the post office). I could meet you around there.

Alternatively, I could come pick it up on Sunday. Just let me know what is best!

Is it bad if my tank specs are on RC and the pics on are here? I'll post some up when i get home from work, even though you've already seen my tank.

Good thing you posted it here because the RC hammer moved in and smashed your thread long after the topic had moved to permitted speech (reference "1984" for further details). :). Welcome to the kinder, gentler (and sane) reef discussion forum. ;)

No KIDDING! I didn't even get a chance to comment on it again and it was closed. It's heeeelarious that he was able to snipe in a sale before they closed it and got uppity. Scott, you should be happy either way...you got to make your traditional remark about their being ***** and they noticed it again. hah hah

It's the first thing I looked for when I looked at his list. I love those fish!

That is indeed my jawfish hanging out up there. He has plenty of rock rubble that he plays with daily. From time to time he does leave his borrow and make his way around. He's quite happy though I can assure you, he looks healthy, is a hearty eater and never tries to jump.

I also recieved a "warning." Typically I would have argued and fought the censorship, and the restriction of discussion, but none the less I sent an apology and moved on.

I knew he was happy and healthy. I'm glad he's playing with rubble too. It's only a matter of time before he does try to jump though, so watch out. I hope he doesn't but statistics say that he will.

I shouldn't say never, because he does try to jump sometimes at night when i get near the tank when the lights are out in tank and the leaving room. I think he just see's a large figure near his home and freaks out. So once the lights are out i tend to stay away. I do however have a tight fighting glass top, with no room to squeeze in to my overflow. So he cant get out.

Are there any suggestions for taking pictures of the tank that show better coral coloration? I'm by no means a pro photographer and i only have a point and shoot camera.

OOOOOH. I forgot your tank is covered. That's great. Nevermind. I'm not worried about it at all then.
