so if they are inferior team how did they knock off a 1st seed team. they are a very good team and they deserve to be where the are at. we are shutting down there top players and there D has no answer for us. its seems like no matter who the pens beat that team sucks and it doesn't matter that we beat them. not that the pens are playing great hockey

I think Ray needs a sarcasm font when he posts....:xd:

I heard Crosby was interviewed by a Detroyt news station and he said that he knows even if they sweep the Cane's that it will not matter and that the Pen's will lose in 4 games to either the Blackhawks or the Wings. He said they were going to have a team meeting after they wrap up the series with the Canes to decide if they should submit their team to the embarressment of a sweep in the finals. He said he didn't want to give this type of an interview to a Pittsburgh station because fan's in Pittsburgh are not as educated about hockey as fans in Detroyt since they have won the cup there several times in the last decade. He admitted that even though the Pens have 2 of the top 3 scorers in the league that it didn't really mean much since no good hocky is played east of Detroyt.

One of the announcers after the game on VS said if you are not impressed with the Pens after this game there is something really wrong with you, well, I think he is just trying to drum up interest for what is sure to be a one sided final where then Pens get dominated. If Crosby or Malkin would have been drafted by Detroyt they would still be in their minor league system.

And well if you didn't play hockey on a frozen pond, you don't know $h*t about hockey...:xd:

I guess growing up in the Burgh home of the most successful team in the history of football and playing football since I was a young'n on the open lots and corner fields qualifies me to be an expert on football. The rest of the football teams should just phone it in for next season and just hand the Stillers their 7th trophy now.

I find it pretty funny that none of you can make a case for why the Pens can beat the Wings. Other than "we have 2 of the top scorers in the league" Whoopee we have one good line! Crosby is no Mario and even Mario needed a complete team. You gusy make me laugh. I will enjoy watching Crosby lose another final.

Yes! The Wings are too old theory rises again! I love this one. Every time the Wings win the cup they hear that they are too old right before they roll right over some young fast team. The same thing was said last year before they crushed Pittsburgh's hopes and dreams that their wonder"BOY" was gonna carry them to the promise land. Cups aren't for kids!

Ok let look at it this way, the Wings have been together as they are now for some time, and also keeping some of the cup veterans. The Pens have been totally rebuilt from a point of sale team, 4 years ago. I would say we are a great team and will clip your wings right off.....IF they make it.......

Heck look at the Canes...... "abandon all hope ye who enter here" look on their faces last night was priceless, even at the end of the second period they didnt know what to do. I feel with the wings geriatric crew and our sweep of this series, the wings are going down.

But I feel that the Blackhawks are a better team and the team we will see in the SCF.

LOL! The Wings just demonstrated how to destroy a young fast team. Without Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Draper they demolished the Hawks. Embarassed them in their own building, chased 2 goaltenders, and frustrated the youngsters into multiple game misconducts. Minus 3 future hall of famers the Wings show there depth once again.

Doesn't really matter what you do to the Hawks. They are not the Pens. Not as good as a team and not as complete a team. You keep talking about depth, but the Pens have 12 guys that have scored 5 or more points in the playoffs and the Wings have 12. I know with your infinite pond hockey expertise your twelve guys have something that we could not possibly see or understand. The Wings have destroyed khabibulin, but what have the Pens done to Ward? It really doesn't matter what we say or what the Pens do cause even if they meet in the finals and the Pens win you will still deny the Pens any credit for what they have done.

That's a BIG if but IF it happens I would take my hat off to them. Until it happens they haven't proven anything. Detroit IS a team of champions and the Pens are a team of dreamers. Until they hoist the cup that is all they will be. I am betting it will be a good long while before that happens. I guess I should point out that not every hockey player was as spoiled as little sid the kid. Wayne Gretzky learned to play on a pond. Like I said before, you don't have to be a pro coach or gm to point out the obvious. The Wings will cut Malkin/Crosby production by half at least. Then when you match up the rest of the lines the Wings will come out on top. Who on the Pens is equal to Franzen, Hossa, and Zetterberg? Nobody. Who on the Pens is equal to Cleary, Samuelson, and Filipula? Nobody. Who on the Pens is equal to Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart and Kronwall? Nobody. Assuming Datsyuk doesn't return the Wings are still more than the Pens can handle. Then you have Osgood vs Fleury. Osgood with 3 Rings and a 2.14 GAA. Fleury with a meltdown in the biggest series of his career and a 2.79 GAA. But great news! He achieved that awsome stat playing against teams that are nowhere near as offensively potent as the Wings. Wings will win in 6 games just like last year. With relative ease.

Your from a Football town. Do you think the NFC is as good as the AFC? It ebbs and flows but right now the western conference is better than the east. Simple as that.

There is no way in hell the Wings will do that to Crosby and Malkin. Your talkin out your butt again. I think you said "I predict Ovechkin will have him throwing tantrums by game 3" and uh that didn't happen. You said that Sid is the too selfish a player; uh again WRONG, you must not have watched any of the Pens games. You also made excuses for your boy Pavel that the reason he doesn't have that many points is the disparity in ice time between him and Crosby and Malkin and well, He played an average of 20 and they played an average of 21 in the playoffs. Lets see, "Crosby will melt down before the series is over"....uh WRONG!

At this point, I think weather forecasters are more accurate than you are...

And before you get too happy about what your Wings did to Khabibulin don't forget that the Hawks tried to trade him but got no offers for him due to his high price tag and mediocre play.

I know, I know..."Oh yeah well the Wings won the cup last year"...

I guess you didn't watch the game. Huet started in net and the Wings chased him by the second period. Chicago has used 3 goaltenders and the Wings have lit them all up like xmas trees.
Are you getting nervous or something? You seem a bit touchy. Actually I said Datsyuk is a complete player that contributes with more than goals. At 1 minute per game difference in a 7 game series that almost half a period. Ovechkin did outplay Crysby, he just didn't have any help. Sid is a sefish player as evidenced by his bloated contract which will insure that the Pens will not surround him with star caliber players other than Malkin. I guess you haven't seen much of Lidstrom's career. He has made short work of many great players over the years on his way to 4 cups. He has played against Gretzky, Lemieux, Sakic, Forsberg, Messier, ect. You know what the difference is between Cindy and them? They have all won the Stanley Cup. Maybe you didn't watch the finals last year when Crosby tried to start a fight with Zetterberg after the Pens fell to a 3-1 series deficit on their home ice. I guess he was frustrated from skating all over the Wings. You point out that the Pens have 12 guys with 5 or more points but you fail to understand that the Pens have been playing against inferior teams. The Blackhawks have 13 players with 5 or more points but they don't seem to be rolling over the Wings. Hmmmm.... Not to mention that Hossa left Pittsburgh because he wanted to WIN a cup. Time and time again you see players light up their former teams. I am sure with Fleury in net this series will be no different. Lidstrom has held Kane and Toews shotless for much of this series and he will limit Malkin and Cindy as well. Who do the Pens have to shut down the Wings? Gonchar? Letang? For real? LOL They will be too busy getting burned for pinching in. There are so many areas that the Wings outmatch the Pens I cant list them all. Goal, offensive depth, defence in a HUGE way, defensive forwards in a HUGE way, discipline, experience in a HUUUUUGE way, coaching, ect... Not to mention home ice which will allow us to get whatever matchup we like. 6 games at best and the Wings will hoist the Cup once again.

How clever. I am sorry that because you feel your team is inferior that you want to sit and gloat about their current success uninterrupted by the reality of their future. You are more than welcome to come to the Michigan forum and tout your teams supposed greatness. However Wings fans know better. We have heard it all before.

No thanks... I hate that state and the unions that sucked it dry. It should be our new waste disposal state.

Not really sure why I would be nervous. The Pens including Crosby are playing great. Touchy, not really just amazed at your continued predictions that never seem to materialize. FYI, Crosby took less than he could have so that blows that theory out of the water. The only tone I can take from your posts is jealousy of Crosby. You would think you actually knew him or something. You seem to have an obsession with the kid. I have seen lidstrom's career it's been a long one and we'll see what he does to Sid if he can stay with him. Again you bring up last years finals and the fight. Lets talk about the here and now, but I understand why you would want to dwell in the past.

No, I'm pretty sure you listed ice time as a reason for the lack of Pavel's production:

"Datsyuk has played 6. Another huge factor is ice time. The Wings are one of the most balanced teams in the NHL. I recently saw comparisons between the ice time of the Wing's to players vs the other top players around the league. They showed these stats during a game and I couldn't find them online but the Wing's stars Franzen, Hossa, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom all play fewer minutes than their counterparts around the league. If a player like Datsyuk is playing 17-19 minutes and a player like Malkin is playing 22-25 minutes then Malkin is likely to have more points even if his play is equal or inferior."

Just because you repeat yourself over and over doesn't make it so. You are starting to sound like a broken record just leaving out what you get wrong each time. At that rate, the only thing you will be able to repeat is "The wings won the cup last year"...:snicker:
