Proud of your cable management? Ashamed of the rats nest growing inside your cabinet? Let’s see what you’re working with! Would love to see how seasoned Reefers keep their cabinets looking clean.

To get us started, I’m really pleased with how the inside of my cabinet is coming along, but I need advice on how to make the outside of the cabinet neater.

Any tips on organizing the cables coming out of the tank without compromising the drip loops?

When I first setup my tank I decided I was going to make my cabling neat and clean. Then as time went on and equipment got changed it just got messier and messier. Now mine looks about the same as @Rp8 in regards to how messy it is.

Do you have any plans to tidy things up? Or are you comfortable with how things are?

I’ve gotten to where if I can hide everything by shutting the stand doors I don’t care. I have no intentions to tidy them up.
It honestly wasn’t too bad until I got an apex, and now there are wires everywhere.

Cables managed… best that I can. It looks like a rats nest, but I don’t have a lot of space for them and it’s not as bad as it looks.

I did at least use some Velcro ties so they aren’t just all stuffed in there, but my next tank is going to have a larger cable management area for sure.

I’m convinced there’s no great way to easily manage cables when the number of plugs your reef tank takes is in the teens.

I thought the Apex was supposed to help make things neater!

I really like how you labeled each of your switches, I’m going to use this in my cabinet. Thanks for the inspiration!

Do you mind sharing what this component does? (Circled in red.)

This is a judgement free thread! Thanks for posting your pictures. I see at least three timers plugged into various outlets, what do those control?

I too originally had everything tightly bundled - nicely organized. Then i changed lights, ties came off. Changed heaters, ties came off. Added a wavemaker, ties came off. Changed pump and ties holding cords all nicely stayed off. Now its a mess (about 4 months post pump) and probably will remain until next tank lol
