Wait, what’s wrong with bettas?

They are probably the most abused fishes in our hobby next to feeder goldfish.
Putting them in CUP's to sit all day, then taken home and thrown in a small globe thinking they are happy in a box where all they can do is sit stationary all day.

It's always sad when I go to Petco or when Walmart used to sell them, and you just see them floating in these tiny cups in bad conditions

To be fair, not all shops have them in bad conditions. The cups themselves aren’t the issue, it’s the cold and dirty water. The nature of these fish, they can be perfectly content in them until they find their new homes. The point is the cups are meant to be temporary holdings until they go into a tank. They don’t need a ton of space while waiting. And they don’t need a ton after either. All of my fancy guys live in 2.5(display,3.6 total) gallons, and up. planted, heated and filtered.
