Does anyone have experience with kessil lights while running hob equipment? I'm ready to pull the trigger on a ap9x but worried the shimmer will be outrageous due to how the hob filter agitates the surface. Obviously it's less when I keep up on the top offs. Help!!! I'm trying to drop 1000$

If you zoom in, you can see the filter agitation and some bubbles

I can't comment on the kessil aspect of it. however looking at your tank, if the shimmer was a problem, could you raise the water level up higher? It looks like you have some room there depending on what type of ATO you are using.

I don't have one. I think that might have to be my next big "to do". Figure out how to attack that

Most reef tanks have a lot of surface agitation, way more than just a hob filter. You should be fine and you probably need more flow if that is all you have.
I have this as well. Honestly, at the lowest settings, I think it's a little much

The complete surface of my tank is rippling pretty heavy, and I still probably need a little more directed flow in spots. All depends on the coral you have. Good rule to have somewhere between 20-50x tank volume for flow, depending on type of corals.

Only thing I "worry" about is my bta's. Sometimes I feel like they are getting beat up
