Hello, I was planning to start a second tank around 60 gallon cube as a FOWLR. I live the shimmer effects of the kessil lights and was thinking of doing a kessil A80 but wondering how or can you even settup the light to ramp up and down (sunrise to sunset) without getting the spectrum controller? I have kessil ap700's on my 220 gallon which I can can control through the kessil app but unsure about the ap80 tuna blue light.

Also being I'm in the market for a light does anyone have a good deal on one? Thankyou all in advance.

You can only ramp up/down a A80 with the controller. It’s a budget(ish) light. Also, it isn’t nearly bright enough for a tank that size. It wasn’t even bright enough for my 20 gallon cube.

I’m using two A80s on a standard 20 gallon and only then is the lighting sufficient enough in terms of brightness.

You’re better off with an a360x/xe but you’ll need to WiFi dongle.

Next best bet on a budget might be an AI Prime. It’s light years brighter than an A80, but I’m not sure if it’ll be enough for a 60 gallon. Luckily they are easy to find secondhand so you could give one a try without too much financial risk.

This won't be a reef tank so I don't need the intensity to be crazy. It's simply going to be a fish only tank. I just like the effects the kessil light gives with the shimmer. I'm not familiar with other lights as to if the give off that same shimmer effect at a budget price but not opposed to trying something other than kessil.
