I don’t post much outside my local club forum here, but I have tons of photos on Instagram and the Noopsyche Group on Facebook.
My frag system has had V2’s for a couple years, and my 30” Tall 220 SPS system has (3) K3’s and (4) 36” Aliexpress 470nm Bars.
I’ve been in the hobby since 2004. Used all kinds of lights. The “premium” brands I’ve tried are simply not even close to worth the price premium they command.
Photos are all IPhone with a Polyplab filter. Frag tank is blue light only. 220 Gets more full spectrum lighting during peak period.

If mine uses a card it was installed into it when I got the controller. I never had to install a card obviously since I didn't even realize there was a card slot. I also never really looked at the manual I just used a YouTube video when setting it up.
I won't be home until tomorrow evening but once I get home I will look and see if mine has a card installed if you haven't got an answer from @noopsyche or someone else before then.
Hopefully with me tagging @noopsyche they should be able to let you know if a SD card is required for the controller to function. However, because of time zones differences they likely won't answer until sometime tonight at the earliest.

Getting little frustrated with these lights.

No SD card is needed for using.There is a stored program inside the controller
Pls check it if it plug in like this(When fully inserted, there is only one circle left on the outside):

Ok, with the help from Noopsyche I got my lights working. User error. Didn't have plug in the controller pushed all the way in.

Set all my settings on SPS/LPS to 50%. Will ramp them up weekly till I get them back to max settings for SPS/LPS.

I went from two 300w viparspectra black boxes to 6 of the k7 V3 lights and other than the obvious short comings of the controls I am incredibly happy with them. They should be a substantial upgrade for you.
I'm hoping they are. My Mars didn't seem to be doing a good job for my SPS. I have read a lot of good things about k7 v3.

Not just the V3. The @noopsyche lights are awesome. I was running the old 90 watt Pro II and it was doing great for me! I recently added the 75 watt V3 and couldn't be happier!

I just added a 75 watter to my set up. Besides it sticking out from my aquaticLife hybrid..I am SO happy with how my reef looks. color is fantastic!! Corals are responding wonderfully!! Kinda wish I would have gotten a third 140 watter just because of how it sticks out...but will eventually stop noticing. Maybe I can win another one?
My Noops k7 v3 are now installed.
How fast do you guys suggest increasing the percentage on the light settings

What do you have them at? I would ramp them up over a month or two to where you want them. I started my Noopsyche at the preset LPS setting (I was coming from an AI Prime), and I’ve had to turn it down a little (to 50% for the blue channels and 15% for white). I may or may not slowly turn it back up, my corals seem pretty happy where it’s at (it was really just one coral, a torch, that seemed like it was getting too much light, but now that I’ve turned them down everything seems still seems happy, except for my maxi mini which is now stretching up towards the light - can’t make everyone happy I guess, lol).
I have all SPS/LPS channels at 50%. Lights are 12" from water surface. Top of rocks are 9" from surface. I was using (3) Mars Aqua which were 100% blue & 30% white. I have sps on the top of may rocks and softies along the bottom of the rock.

I have the time settings set as shown on the booklet for SPS/LPS.
At 8:00 all zeros. At 9:00 I have percentages set.
At 8:15 this morning my lights started to come on faintly?
Checked the time and the times for the hours, all set correct.
