So, Mel, it seems that what you are saying is that:

1. I am quiting the club
2. I am changing all of the club rules
3. I am not able to treat other adults as adults
4. I am not able to honestly create a list of those that have been nominated
5. I am not able to honestly count the votes.

How am I not suppose to take "no offense"?

If you want to take over the club and run it. That is one thing that the voters need to know. You do not at this point have the authority to appoint Seth as an election administrator.

I don't believe that you are able to collect names for votes/nominations in an ubiased manner. I didn't appoint Seth but he's on the board and it is happening this way. You are quitting the club. You can take offense to this if you want but what I'd prefer is for you to realize that all this fighting isn't good for the club and go away gracefully.

Apparently that's not going to happen though. So I'm telling you the way things are going to happen for the good of the club. As one of the only founding members who is still active (mostly because you ran them all off with your poor leadership), I'm telling you this is what's happening. Seth has already started that thread (at his suggestion, not mine) and the nominations are already happening.

I'm sorry if you don't like it but fighting isn't in the best interest of the club. We're making the transition asap and since you started the ball rolling, stop complaining about it.

Not going to try to enter that fray, but why not have nominations posted 'publicly' in the private forum and use an online voting tool like survey monkey or ballot bin to collect votes? SurveyMonkey: Free online survey software & questionnaire tool BallotBin.com -- Free online web election and survey service!

It's already been solved. Seth has nominations being sent to him so we're good. It's not like you to avoid the fray, Joel!

Glad we'll see you at one more meeting.

Glad your going to make it. Even though your moving away, maybe you have some suggestions for the club to use in the future.

I wanted to be at this meeting but as it turns out I'll miss it, too. Perhaps the next one.

Personally, I think Eddie is probably the most able in the club to do this in an unbiased manner. Whatever method is done is okay with me so long as it is approved by the board (of which I am a part, sorry member that I have been lately). Do you really want to have discussions like this in a public place?

Perhaps he just wants to be introduced as a "special visitor" at future meetings. :)

About who counts votes... I think that any person that is nominated for a position should not be the one to count votes....just as a general rule. That said, I have no reason to believe Seth or Eddie would not be trustworthy to do it.

+1.

While I don't know everything going on behind the scenes, the words of some against Eddie seem unnecessarily combative, personal, divisive, and undeserved. Let's remember that Eddie did not even want to be President for a second year, there was little interest in the club a year ago, and he basically held things together. It's easy to criticize, much harder to stick around and put in the hard work. More actions, less talk, people. And remember, it's just a fish club!

I agree with joel...just a fish club. Its purpose is enjoyment and friendship. If it gets to the point that both of those are diminished, compromised, or destroyed, it is defeating its own purpose. Id rather have just a group of friends and no club than a club that argues so much about how things are run that the friendship is destroyed.

I'm bringing Jake so I should RSVP plus 2 on the food portions.

We haven't decided what we're bringing.

What's everyone else bringing, food-wise?

I think we might bring Rosemary Corn.

Rob, you had it at our house...would that go well? I could just get a whole ton of ears of corn and wrap them all up beforehand, then toss them in your oven or on the grill...whatever is open. That or I could make them at our house and then heat 'em up a little at your house.

Mel, corn on the cob is fine, I think re cooking them would be best.

I would love to have coleslaw or potato salad?
