Move went great...didn't lose a single coral. I'm going to be redoing the aquascape this weekend and will post pics...when I set it up I was just trying to get stuff in as quick as possible.

This is great! I ordered this same setup a couple of weeks ago. I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I plan on turning the two provided holes for return and drain into just the drain using a herbie setup. That has proven to be rock solid in my experience. I'll most likely run a line up (maybe drill a hole in the back) for the return.

That's a great idea! I'm really enjoying this tank.

I finally got the time to redo the rockwork (I just threw it in the day I moved the tank) after the move.

With an Ecoxotic stunner strip. I've got it hooked to the breakout box on my apex.

Hmm... I might steal that idea :)

How silent is the drain? I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to mod it with a herbie or not. I'm leaning towards doing it, but it would be nice to not have to drill the tank.

the way the return is designed your drain line I extremely low and totally underwater. I had drilled a hole in the top for some airline and ended up not using it. It runs totally silent.

Ok. It runs as a siphon then so it should be quiet. But that also means there is no backup if it gets stopped up, right?

That's correct. I'm working to put in a fail safe with a float valve to shut down the pump if the water level is off.

I was thinking something like that too. The problem with float valves is that they can stick. I was thinking something more like a rope-style leak detector, but they aren't foolproof either.

Yeah, it would be nice if SCA had thought about that and designed it with two drains.

Mine is going okay. I ordered the wrong bulkhead, so I'm kinda held up until that gets here. Basically everything else is good to go.

I moved it to about 1/4 down from the top. Seems to be good. I don't have any algae growing on the sand. I also pointed the return spray on the right side down to blow behind the rocks.

Random question... what's the silencer mounted to for your skimmer air intake? It came with a nylon screw, but it is not clear to me what it is supposed to attach to. It looks like your is attached to the cover for the skimmate cup.
