One popped up on eBay so I grabbed it. I order a 150w radium, waiting on the bulb. It has some kind 10k in there now, super bright. The coverage is night and day over a radion. I’m looking forward to the coral response over the next several week.
Stock up! I don’t think most of the bulbs we use are still being produced.

I have't used 150w in many years, seems to be perfect for this little tank. I see that radiums are sold out in most places. I can't believe the prices on the 400w bulbs now. They were $80 5 years ago. I see them more than double the price now. What a shame. Sucks that they are taking away the option of halide.

I don’t think they are taking it away, I just think the market made it hard to run production runs just for a few hundred hobbyist. Ahh, the good ol days when we all melted our skin together using halides. I miss em, but I also dont. Especially the heat.

I wasn’t happy with the density of the rock, or the rock stability in this tank, so I bought some Australian live rock. This rock is expensive, but it’s extremely light and porous so it works out costing less based on volume.

So I performed a full reboot last week. All corals remounted, new cured rock in place. Gave the radion g6 a break and I’m running a 150w phoenix 14k with reef brites. That’s about it, time to leave things alone and hopefully watch it all grow. So far so good.

Looking good! I know it’s early but what are your thoughts of the colors with the MH setup

Thanks E! The color pop and initial look is not as good as led. Color looks flat in comparison, however, I am running more par with a phoenix 14k and don't see the negative affect that I would with the radion. Par with this halide ranges from 400-170 on sand bed in conjunction with blue reefbrites. The tank also look visually bright. That is something that I missed. Time will tell, I still have my radion just in case.
dang, looks good!
Thanks bud!

Just to keep in current. Rescaped yet again (had a rockslide) and changed the bulb to a marine color 20k (more par and better color than phoenix). Also got rid of torches, they kept stinging stuff. I'm keeping my hand out of this tank!

The new ‘scape looks open - more room for corals

Is the Marine Color 20k more blue than the phoenix also? I just got 2x lumen brite mini SE fixtures. Thinking about running them on my 120

Started this tank a week ago with very established rock and bio media. There was no cycle. Fish and corals have been doing well since day 1.

Equipment
-25 waterbox peninsula
-Ecotech Radion g6 pro XR-15 with added reefbrites
-Aquamax Bullet 3 skimmer
-Aquamax reactor with GFO
-2xAI Nero 3 for flow
-Tunze top off, ink bird temp, tune osomalator topoff
-jeabo dc return pump

This tank will be SPS dominated. I will post better pics as I stock it

It's a little less blue actually. It has a slight pink hue similar to the radium. For the price I don't think it's possible to go wrong. It's amazing that I spent $50 with bulb on a lighting that blows away a $500 led. This hobby has regressed in many ways :worried-face:

It was an end table from Amazon that fit the dimension. I had to brace it for stability. Wouldn't recommend it but it works for now :)
Love the rustic look! It's something I will definitely look into as it fits my wife's interior design for our house. lol :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

How is your temperature holding up? Last week was very hot and tank reached 80F with a small fan like yours!

Lots of evaporation too

This 150w doesn’t throw off a ton of heat. I keep the house thermostat from 71-73 and the tank doesn’t see more than 79 degrees. The fan keeps it from going higher. I’m not really sure on evaporation, haven’t been paying attention but I’m sure it’s more. I have a 10g acrylic box for a top off tank so it lasts a long time on this nano.

Some reefbrite pics to keep things going

couldn’t say no when one popped up for sale. Giesemann Infinity running a 250w Marine Color 20k. Waiting on some new t5 bulbs and I’ll post some pics closer to the actual spectrum. I’ve gone full spazz on this tank. I really need an upgrade asap lol
