Omg, is your light mounted on the wall separating DT instead of the back wall so you can fit the HOB skimmer? I never thought of doing that

OMG you scared the crap out of me lol. I thought it was wrong to do that or something when I first read your response :D. I really wanted that skimming power so I can feed the tank like a pig and still keep lower nutrient levels. I absolutely love that skimmer. Definitely the strongest HOB skimmer that I ever saw. Way more powerful than my old deltic mce 600.

Might as well make a small update. I've been stocking along. Tank is 2 weeks old.
Fish - Picasso Clown, blue chrome, purple filefish. chalk bass, and a royal gramma (royal grandma as my son calls him :D)

Feeler SPS were holding color and growing so I started adding some more with random LPS, rics, zoa, and a rbta :face-with-open-mouth:

Out of curiosity whats your light intensity top out at? I'm running a g5 blue, but curious if you made any changes after adding the reef brites?

It tops out at about 60% overall. I adjusted the spectrum a little whiter than the AB+.

The Kraken Reef lid came. I love it. It’s great that they have the exact dimensions to an AIO tank. No headache. Highly recommend.

The tank has been cruising along. Please don’t let me persuade you into doing anything too fast. Remember, everything here is from an established system. Think tank transfer instead of new start.

We’re just a little passed the 3 week mark. Nutrients are balanced where I want them. I’m getting a daily cal/alk consumption now (7.5ml each daily). I’m seeing improvements on all sps polyp extension, colors, and some noticeable growth already. Just keeping it steady as I’ve done with other tanks. I’ll update in a few weeks or so.

Looking good! The bubble tip is minding its own business so far?

Yea for now. I have him on his own rock island. My kid was begging me to get it. Don't take too much to tempt me lol. It will probably end up stuck in my powerhead and nuke the tank... I keep 20gals of made saltwater just incase lol.

50 days into the life of this tank. Things are going fairly smooth. I’m at the point where I’m constantly balancing nutrients and lighting intensity. I have no idea what kind of par that I’m getting on the xr-15 g6 so I have a par meter coming this week. I ordered the usb type from BRS.
Growth has been decent. I think when I can safely increase lighting it will improve. I’ve added a kamoer doser using all-for-reef to keep up with alk, cal, and mag. To my surprise it’s holding all levels super stable. I’m dosing 17ml daily. I’ve also added a co2 scrubber (RO canister from brs). My ph range went from 7.8-8.2 to 8.1-8.4. I got 2 weeks out of the first canister full of media so not too bad. I will keep it going.

Just wanted to add that taking pics with blue leds and an iPhone 13 sucks. Very hard to get accurate colors. I tried using software white balance and this orange clip on phone gels

Tanks looking great! Don’t be afraid to crank that g6 up.. I was running mine at 85% over a 60gal cube and added a second and ran both at 60% at that time and never had a issue.. I never acclimated anything..

Thanks for the info. I ran g4s last over a 120g and if I went over 75% ab+ I got bad fading. These spread much better. Are you using a diffuser? Using rms at 9” height?

G4 was a different beast.. I have no diffuser and was 4” off the water. The spread is amazing on the stock light.. I was running the. G6 blue on ab+ myself.. par will read horrible but they work.. your reefbrites should add a good punch also..

Holy $hyte! No wonder why I was confused lol. If I can read 300-350 across most of the sps I would be content. We’ll see. I’ll post some pics and numbers when the meter comes.

Got the par meter, as suspected my numbers are way lower than I wanted. The center rock platform with the majority of sps is getting 150-200 par running ab+ 75%. This is with the light on the rms bracket 9" above water line and corals are 10"-12"below water surface.

The orange passion on the center branch is the highest coral in the tank getting 350 par. most of the other sps around the perimeter of the tank are getting 160-250. Not terrible but I have to bump it up a bit. My nutrient level is holding steady (non-uln) and corals should have enough zoox to handle a bump. We'll see. I'll get a good pic and label par numbers soon.
