Fist off, I am glad you and your family are good. Two, that is a bummer. One reason I am thinking solar. I have my sort term power options, but not long term yet.Feel your pain. My 90G that was 5 years established died when we had a tornado come through and we were without power for 2 weeks. Was no saving it. Now I have a transfer switch on the house that I can take over circuits in the house with generator one being the reef tanks haha.
Wow such a bummer. Glad to see you hang in there and keeping at it.Ahhh, I had my skimmer air line to the outside. The county sprays for mosquitoes at night time down here. After trying everything, I was about to tear down the system. Then one night the bug sprayer drives by and the light bulb came on. it was the pesticide for the mosquito spraying that was slowing killing the tank off every time the country went by.
That tank would start looking good for a couple of days, then back down hill. I move the air line to the attic and problem solved. Then it was to detox the system, multiple cycles, and starting basically for scratch.
I like this one
Ok thank you I’ll look at them and try grab one hopefullyAcans lords are pretty safe
Most insurance companies will cover the equipment, but not the livestockDo people insure their tanks? Is that a thing?
When you see $5 coral, stay away from the link ;Hilarious ;HilariousI forgot did they have $5 sps
I asked My agent he said I’m covered under my contents coverage incase something happens… but more so for damage to the house than loss of coral/fish.Do people insure their tanks? Is that a thing?
There are a bunch of different corals in each category that beginners can try that are both hardy & not expensive.Same pretty much have tank full of zoas just don’t know what else I can get without breaking bank and it end up dying from my inexperience
Thanks Jsker it was a high EF2 almost EF3, came right down our street. We were fortunate in the neighborhood no one was killed or seriously injured. Happened in the Middle of the night too. Took months to get the house repaired and some had to be rebuilt. At the time losing the tank was the least of my concerns.Fist off, I am glad you and your family are good. Two, that is a bummer. Their official name is micromussa lordhowensis but people still call them acansOk thank you I’ll look at them and try grab one hopefully
Renters or homeowner insurance would be only thing I would think you could claim on but don’t really know if you can where it is such a toss up and insurance I don’t think going to pay 1,500 because you crashed your tankDo people insure their tanks? Is that a thing?
Insurance only covers equipment. So if the tank breaks and equipment is ruined they will cover that. Contents of your tank not covered. Has to be added as a rider onto your policy.I asked My agent he said I’m covered under my contents coverage incase something happens… but more so for damage to the house than loss of coral/fish.
I'm a P&C underwriter here in Tampa. In my 15 years in the business there are no companies who insure reefs specifically. However if you are a renter or homeowner and have a standard policy, your base policy will cover 5% of your contents for any one item, minus your deductible.Do people insure their tanks? Is that a thing?
Well deserved!!!Just bought my first piece of the sale
