In Italy when use Moka :( [xD]
Seeing you were Italian I kind of anticipated that answer lol! Maybe you can use a paper towel, I'm not sure...

When I had my dinos, if I did a water change and let the bucket sit they'd kind of clump back up in that as well.

[DAY 100]

Hi guys, new update from the Italian Newbie's Pico/Nano Aquarium

As you can quickly see from the photo there's a new friend in town.
I was planning to put a friend in for baby ocellaris in early June but during a soccer match I broke my leg and have to stay in hospital for about a week.
On June 15th the time has finally come to purchase a new ocellaris from an LFS.
Since the two stores I had visited before gave me different water measurements, I decided to visit a new fish store.

I bring a water sample with me but when I arrived at the fish shop he could only test the water with test strips (pretty useless).

But there are many clown fish that coexist with anemone and shrimps in the same tank, but even if they were a faded orange the price was lower than the other fish shop.
So I decided to buy an ocellaris and also a lysmata amboinensis.
I paid 35 euros for both.

As always I acclimatised the two little animals slowly.
The next day I saw that there was a white film on the ocellaris. My eyes came out of their sockets.
Was the fish sick?

I asked for information online and two names came up, brooklynella and odinium.

what do I have to do now? It's Sunday and in Italy no fish medicine can be sold in shops.
I dosed some garlic in the feed and waited a day.
Things seem to improve in the morning they were almost no longer present but in the evening they seemed to reappear.

I therefore decided to buy esha oodinex from an online store. Delivery was 3 days.

the question was: will he survive? To save 5 euros will I lose both the fish and 20 euros of medicine?

Before the medicine arrived, the fish was quite well, no signs of illness.
I decided to dose the medicine to avoid possible problems.

Oodinex is considered reef safe, so I won't have any problems, I thought.

And after dosing 8 drops on the first day and 4 for the next two days I'm here now to say that the fish are good at swimming and eating but I can still see some spots in the other fish too.
but the lysmata is not alive anymore... after a week of introduction I found it in the sand while it was being eaten by the hermit crab.
i don't now what could be the reason :(

RIP shrimp.

Speaking of corals, the GSP or briareum as you would call it, was spreading very quickly on the top or small rock.

But I noticed that for no reason sometimes after fully opening it would close instantly. I can't find any reason also because another piece of the same coral opened up and there was a problem in the water both should remain closed at least I think.

Looking more closely at the aquarium, I noticed two small joys, which is why I first used the plural term for corals, a small zoanthus appeared on the sand and another small coral on the living rock, what do you think it is?. This makes me very happy, above all it means that the aquarium is running well.

After a not very positive start, the macroalga gracilaria seems to be doing better.

To conclude I can say that I have completely eliminated the dinoflagellates that invaded the tank. I don't two if the solution was to increase nitrate or the phytoplankton or even the higher temperature (27degree celsius) or even both of them.
At the moment the algae are very good, I only have a few diatoms and the first pink corals are growing.
At the moment the water changes have been stopped for a long time... unfortunately with crutches it is not easy to operate independently.

I'm actually at:
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 5
phosfate 0,07
kh: 9
ph: 8.5

(not accurate aquili test for kh no2 no3, salifert for phos and digital pen for ph)

See you next update :)
