This is going to sound crazy, but I feel like I have more problems with this whenever we are experiencing a lot of barometric pressure changes. As soon as everything stabilizes this problem seems to go away. I'm not 100% sure if there's an actual correlation or not, just my brief observations
I discussed this a little with frank as well. I'm not sure what the actual scientific answer would be on the effects of barometric pressure on a fish tank so i defiantly wouldn't count this out. My thought initially was this, there are more swings in temp when the pressure is changing (front coming through) typically its our temp dropping. if the temp is dropping and the furnace (what we thought may be the issue) is kicking on more because of it there would be a def correlation.

how often is it doing it? is it daily? or once a week or every couple of weeks?
typically for a few days then not for a few days then doing it again. hadn't consider weather as a possible reason, I'll need to see if it keeps doing it after I clean it and remove the bubble issue, etc. and see if it correlates to the weather.

It is definitely possible. The storm that just rolled through was the lowest ever recorded in central il.

Do you see this when the ac is running. If your furnace is gas it's not drawing nearly as much.
Good point, it is gas and therefore using significantly less and i have never noticed it with the AC

Does your furnace have its own braker. If not this may be the issue.

Mystery probably solved. Took pump apart there was a small screw lodged in impeller. Not sure how it was even still working.

I think we're all missing a screw. Or at least have a loose one here and there.

If it wasn't there imagine how many rabbit holes you wouldn't have gone down.
Truth! But it still led me to performing some other maintenance that needed done so bright side.

Well spoke to soon. About 1 hr after posting the drains started doing it again.
Although unlikely is the ceramic rod broken? If so that would certainly cut the flow rate in half at the very least.
