Today is day 1 of what I hope will be 365 days of posts on my new frag tank build.

Tank is a deep blue 60? gallon. Bought it used locally. The tank measures 48L x 24W x 13T. Internet says thats 64 gallons.
This system will have a 40B plumbed into it as a sump. For a total volume around 80 or 90 gallons.

Tank will be lit by 2 or 3 Kessil A360WE's.

Pumps, wave makers, skimmer, etc TBD.

I want this thread to be a from the ground up build. I know there will be days that my update is... "no update today". But hopefully this build can help some other budget builder know what to expect.

My goal for this tank is to grow frags to a larger (colony) size. I also want to be able to at appropriate times make frags to trade or give to fellow reefers. Im not looking to make any money at this point.

Thanks for following along.

Today's progress and pictures.
Started with 8 2x4s. The design for the stand is in my brain. Im not much for writing up elaborate drawings.
I've got 2/3rds of the initial peices cut.

It's been a crazy ride... multiple tank changes. I'll save you the trouble. This is the current rendition.

Truth in reefing.
Things can be great 1 day and 48 hrs later you are left dumbfounded.
Tank is relatively stable. No crazy changes in parameters.
Went from very happy coral to death in 48 hrs.
Birdsnest are some finicky things.
My guess is that I've been planning on cleaning my gyres for a few weeks (and still havent)(tomorrow I'm off and will)
They grow so fast and compact. That flow was impeded.
All acros are good. All montis are good. Everything else is good.
Lost a bunch of big colonies.

Gladiator clowns have finally laid eggs. They are 5 yrs in.
Orchid dottybacks had eggs last week.
Male Cardinalfish holding again...

I think the fish are happy.

Parameters are good.
Cleaned all gyres today.

Return pump tomorrow.

Need to fix my car. Blew the intake manifold gasket.
