Hey there! Looks good! Im very interested in your build as I am also at that stage though Im certain you know what you’re doing and I’m pretty much (wingin)! Can’t wait to see what’s next!Today is day 1 of what I hope will be 365 days of posts on my new frag tank build.
Tank is a deep blue 60? gallon. Bought it used locally. The tank measures 48L x 24W x 13T. Internet says thats 64 gallons.
This system will have a 40B plumbed into it as a sump. For a total volume around 80 or 90 gallons.
Tank will be lit by 2 or 3 Kessil A360WE's.
Pumps, wave makers, skimmer, etc TBD.
I want this thread to be a from the ground up build. I know there will be days that my update is... "no update today". But hopefully this build can help some other budget builder know what to expect.
My goal for this tank is to grow frags to a larger (colony) size. I also want to be able to at appropriate times make frags to trade or give to fellow reefers. Im not looking to make any money at this point.
Thanks for following along.
Today's progress and pictures.
Started with 8 2x4s. The design for the stand is in my brain. Im not much for writing up elaborate drawings.
I've got 2/3rds of the initial peices cut.
Thank you for the kind words.. If you need anything ask away. Your always welcome to post here or PM me. I'm happy to help. And I've got a great network on here that can help too...Hey there! I got my nem!
I really like the tentacles on these Borneman Anemones I got yesterday.
Here are some pics from today. Loving how everything has come together first the nem tank...
And the lagoon...
Everywhere you look there is something...
I thought this was going to be a frag tank for a bigger build... but I love how it came together time to get to grow this stuff big and pretty.
dad does quality work.Tried to kill my tank.... oops... one careless thing and I could have lost everything. Last night I was playing around with my new controller cabinet my dad built me. It is bad butt. I turned off one of my existing power strips and moved all but 1 plug. I got distracted and tired at the end. That plug belonged to my inkbird temp controller. I put my hand in to feed tonight 24 hours after shutting it off and wondered why my water was so cold. I instantly knew why... temp was 68 in the tank. Slowly raising it back up. A little bit of cleaning and cord management tomorrow then lots of pics. Here is a teaser of the controller cabinet. I picked up these nice 8 switch DJ power bars they look slick. My dad did an amazing job. I couldn't be more happy. He doesn't get on here... but public thank you to him. He is a great guy.
That sounds terrible. Glad you caught it in time.Tried to kill my tank.... oops... one careless thing and I could have lost everything. We've had a Cold spurt the last few ones here and@ 420 am this morning, my inkbird started screaming to hight heaven because the heaters had been on for longer than normal. Super irritating way to wake up for sure.
Honestly, how mad could I be at that time of day? It only comes around twice. Might as well celebrate both times..Love when 420 pops up!
