So I bought a meteor shower coral about 2 weeks ago and it hasn’t changed since I got it. I know they’re supposed to open and spread so I was wondering if I’m doing something wrong with it or placed it wrong? Wrong lighting? someone let me know.

Yeah it was actually lower so I did a 10% water change to try and higher it and I guess it put a little too much.
Just pull a little water out and the same amount of fresh water. A little a day till you get to 1.025

I have run

1 purple 1 blue plus 2 actinic
2 blue plus 2 actinic
1 Coral 2 blue plus 1 actinic
1 purple 1 coral 1 blue plus 1 actinic also

You can change it to your liking as you go. I absolutely agree you’ll be able to grow whatever you’d like on his setup though.

Will do now for those bulbs do I buy all of those to replace the existing ones?
Yes. The ones that come with the light are for growing plants. The ones from ati are designed for coral

You’ll need the fixture, which comes with bulbs you aren’t going to use, and then install the 4 he said or a combo of others into that fixture

Thanks for the help guys. I’ll be getting that light as soon as I can and I’ll move the coral down so a more shaded spot for the mean time.

Shameless self-plug, this is with a T5 4 bulb + LED. it’s a fun and never ending learning type hobby. Just keep an open mind and ask lots of questions!
Very nice what’s that coral at the bottom left? It’s red and green like how that one looks

That’s called a symphyllia. In the “brain coral” group. Good story on that one…. Went to go buy a bubble tip from a local guy who’s into reefing and does maintenance for businesses tanks. I said “whoa that guys cool”, he said “yea, how bout 40 bucks?”. Absolutely no way I could say no to that. It’s almost the size of a football!

What a steal! There aren’t many people in my area into reefing let alone stores. I have to go to petco for all of my fish and would have to go to the next city over to go to actual stores dedicated to fish.
