Hi, I think I'm battling lyngbya and I'm researching it on here and other sources. I've got plenty of information on it now mostly from reef2reef except for one thing - I read in some places that it causes illness - skin rashes and worse. Like it can release toxins aerosol form and cause all kinds of nasties in people.

Is that a different sort of lyngbya than the one we get in our aquariums or do I need to be careful with it and wear gloves, mask etc? Is that what people posting on here do when cleaning it out?

I don't think I'd be concerned about toxins from some aquarium cyanobacteria. Unless there was a massive amount, maybe.
(but I haven't heard much about lyngbya toxins on people)
