Hey, i’ve just bought a 3ft tank in hopes to setup my first marine tank! I’ve kept basic freshwater fish before as well as land hermit crabs.

I would love to know what your thoughts are on keeping just inverts in the tank and what types i can keep together. Especially what ones are the most hardy!

I am open to their being a few fish in the tank as well, however i do want the main focus to be the invertebrate

i originally was fully set on marine hermits been in the tank however after a bit of research i see they often attack other inhabitants. Does this rule them out?

Thank you all, any info is appreciated!

marine hermits are mostly peaceful, they just wander around the tank picking at everything. If a snail or other animal dies, the hermits will get on it and clean it up for you, but folks tend to think that it killed that animal, that why they got a bad rep. They've been blamed for killing fish, corals, anemones, etc.. but they usually just doing their job and eating an already dead animal. With that said, it is the animal kingdom, so suppose some hermits have a mean disposition or can be rogues. But it is not the norm IME.

Sounds like a very interesting tank, good luck.
