... And the 3-axis hammer test????
Yeah, or what I refer to as "Shipping USPS"

Which parts swap?

L2 => L4 => L8 => L16 ???

I am particularly interested in what it takes to upgrade from an L8 to an L16. Are there any wastage/leftover parts after converting an L8 to an L16?
L2 does not up-convert.

the L4, L8, and L16 all share the same Base & everything connected below that.

Essentially to expand one of the larger units, you would need the Growth Chamber extension, switch out the J-channels (and end cover plates), and either reconfigure the lights or swap them out.

The Growth Chamber extension needs to be bonded in so I would need to have a pretty clear process outlined.

The J-channels and End Cover Plates are simple to swap.

The light re-configuration would probably be complex enough that I would just credit you back for the current lights and send you the upgraded ones, unless you are comfortable with DIY enough to re-wire the lights if given a wiring harness and clear instructions (would need to swap heat sinks and then move LED boards around and re-wire)

Hey Bud, what's the footprint of the L4? I'm flirting with trying to upgrade to that from my L2. Not sure if it will fit in my stand as the L2 is a perfect fit now without a lot of wiggle room.

Right now it's a matter of days to about a week at most from payment to shipping for L2s. I'm pretty much caught up, working on stocking up on finished L2s because the L4s L8s and L16s will be here pretty soon. I'll be sending out notices to everyone on the waiting list for those units soon- was going to try to get that started tonight but got tied up, busy day tomorrow, then off to Omaha for the Blue October concert Saturday, Father's Day on Sunday / family in town, so it might be next week but we'll see...

First, thanks Bud for all the help and conversation throughout the purchase and installation process. I know you are busy, but still found time to reply to my numerous emails. Picture of my installation is attached.

Mine is being fed off the return line, valve under the T to the ATS, so I can control the amount of water to the ATS, vs. into the sump, which is a Rubbermaid horse trough. You can also see the power supply to the ATS on the wall.

I thoroughly bench-tested the Rev 4 L2 before rolling it out, and then I took care of my waitlist customers first before swapping out my own scrubber.

About 18 days ago I finally retired my trusty Rev 1 L2 and installed a Rev 4 L2 with a brand new mortar screen, unseeded. Just cleaned it tonight. Now excuse me while I break my arm patting myself on the back, but this is the fastest I've ever had a screen take off, and I've replaced the screen a few times on this tank. Looking back...I kinda wish I had put myself first in line. But, I had a functioning scrubber and a line of people doing without! Life keeps me pretty busy and this year had been no exception...probably my busiest time ever in my life, on all levels.

Anyways, here's my first cleaning - 4 parts, I just dumped it off my phone and uploaded it straight up so forgive the quality. I tend to take pics and video then never get around to uploading them, smh. Anyways, check out the growth!

1 of 4

The rest are uploading...watch for them on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_wpTyQPPr5r1mSKPkYgplQ I'll post them up tomorrow...

Probably not, diatoms are kind of "primal"...simple and everywhere.

Also typically a phase, sometimes short, sometimes long

Looking good. I am finally getting around to setting mine up this weekend. What time schedule and light intensity (knob position) would you recommend for a sterile scrubber? Should note the tank has been running for about 9 months and have a decent covering of algae on the LR. I am really looking forward to some nutrient reduction!

Start with it on the 6 o'clock position and run for 9-12 hrs/day.

Whenever you examine the screen, do so under white light with the scrubber lights off (otherwise green under red light = black)

After 3-5 days, you should at least have some dark coloration. (If not, dial back to 7 o'clock and check in 3 days). If you see any green sprigs, you can add hours - 12-15 hrs/day.

After 6-8 days, if growth continues to fill in, add hours. Keep adding hours as long as growth does not backtrack.

Add hours first, then increase intensity if color is dark mixed with some green sprigs.

If color is all dark and slimy, rinse. Otherwise let it grow for at least 14 days

I like that you included a bunch of different fitting types. Only thing I am using different is some soft silicone tubing I had left over from setting up the tank. The stuff is a whole lot easier to use. I saw you said to use transition cement, but saw an email saying that standard was fine as long as I don't use primer?
