so i bought a toadstool yesterday and as i was putting it into my tank after acclimation and all i noticed a tear in the stalk and i dont know how bad that can turn out or what not it’s hard to get a good angle for a picture because its leaned over facing the front of the tank but the head of the coral is on the right and the teared stalk is just behind it

Toadstools are pretty durable. Looks like it is trying to extend it's polyps, which is a good sign. I would at least make your seller aware of it and se what they have to say. My guess is though, it will probably be fine IMO.

yeah polyps have been starting to look better and better, just overthinking about the situation as most do

it looked perfectly fine at the store
This is more stressed than damaged and may be due to lack of flow. When this is the case, the cap (top) will skin over holding back the polyps from extending. Use a turkey blaster and give it a few gentle blasts and then place in area where there is medium flow which keeps sediment off of it. Also assure your phosphate and nitrate level not elevated and bring salinity up one point to 1025

salinity 1.024, ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0.10 ppm, nitrate 5.0 ppm PH 8.2
Don't worry about nitrite anymore, retire the kit. Same goes for ammonia.
Do you own a phosphate kit? Most are hard to read, I highly recommend getting the Hanna checker if you think you will have a tank long term.
