I gott you, that's where I was planning on placing it, I'm guessing you didn't use the bio balls? Did you use cheato? (Check spelling) lol. Sorry for all the questions, just wanna get some advice from a pro!!! And the patience kills me!!! I want it all set up today!! Lol jk

I couldn't get cheato to work in there. The compartments are awfully small. I have the black foam that came with the tank in the return compartment, though I've trimmed some of it off, I have Exxodus-BAC in the middle compartment (they were on closeout so I got them for about half this price)

In the return I have the heater, a bag of carbon, a bag of phosban, and the skimmer.
Sometimes I balance a piece of filter floss between the compartments.

Pro!!! Lol yes you are. This is awesome, thank you for the info. May I ask, what do or did you have in the overflow compartment? You mentioned you placed the black foam in the return side and cut it, just curious as to what you have or had in the overflow part.

Oops, I meant in the overflow. Black foam is in the overflow compartment. Exxodus in the middle. Skimmer, carbon, phosban, heater in the return with the return pump (Tam Rio 180)

Hey!!! Who does their hair? Lol thanks again for all the info. Much appreciated. You know I had a bad problem with hair algae in my 29 gallon tank, I read somewhere about acclimating black mollies and adding them in, soooooo I tried it and so far, ITS WORKING!!! Those suckers fest on it.... i couldn't get rid of it so I went outside the box and so far so good. Just a thought.
