I bought a valentini puffer on Sunday and noticed white spots that looked like ick. I have raised my tank temp to 81 up from 79. What else should i do? He seems to eat when he gets the chance.

Iv also observed my cleaner shrimp cleaning it. It seems he is trying to pry the parasite off of the puffer.

I add garlic to the fish food and some say this helps, some say it is a waste of time... I take my chances with it though. Other than that you are pretty limited.

What else is in the tank, anything that could be harmed by hyposalinity?

Yeah unless you can catch the puffer and place it in another tank the hypo isn't an option. I would just proceed with feeding some garlic and hope for the best.

Metranirozole and focus in the food will do the trick. I would treat for 5 weeks. Metranirozole won't hurt anything.
