I need to id this black thing growing around my zoas it might be vermited snails if yes how do I get rid of them?

Can you provide a better picture of what we are looking at is is flat or 3d ?? How long has it been there is it causing the zoas to close

A bit hard to make out, but it looks like it may be a sponge. I had black sponge on one of my Zoa frags. I pulled the plug and scraped it off with a dental tool.

I’m asking because three of my polyps have been closed and they have a black thing and a feather duster lookin thing

it started to grow in between the polyps and was choking the polyps out.

Did you rule out aiptasia? I had all kinds of little tube creatures in my tank, they are pretty harmless, mostly filter feeders and they stay pretty small.
