I need some guidance R2R - CHEMICLEAN

Hello R2R family!

I’m slapping the baind-aid on the Aquarium. I’d like to do it tonight. I performed a w/c a few hours ago. I have air stones and pump all set and ready to go. I’ll be using ChemiClean as my aquarium treatment source. My concern is the following regarding my aquarium marine life. I know all the directions and have watched numerous YouTube videos regarding Cyanobacteria / ChemiClean and thus.

I have NO fish - currently - ( sad, Marine Velvet struck and wiped my aquarium in three days 04/04/21) *I now QT all my fish*

I happily care for Rock Flower Anemones, BubbleTip Anemones and ZOAS (very sm.)

10 RFA’s
2 BTA’s
2 (separate island small ZOA colonies)

My main question is this…
Are Anemones safe from the treatment of CHEMICLEAN?

Out of curiosity, what is your nitrate level?

So is chemi-clean 100% safe? No.

Chances are it will be fine. Just remember... sometimes it isn't. This likely has more to due with the type of cyano dying or some other toxic process happening then the chemi clean itself.

Nitrate hovers about 20ppm and then I typically do my routine w/c 10% weekly. Drops it to 10ppm.

I’ve been battling the red crap for about 6wks. - that’s with my water changes. I know chemicals are a last resort, so that’s where I feel like I’m at.

Very true - Unless you find the source of the problem you’re really not winning. Well, you may, but you may not.

I watched the BRS 5min. guide to this specific bacteria and methods to battle this bacteria. I know it’s also primarily a photosynthesis algae. I was happy with the BRS results, videos, tips and suggestions.

I get a bloom now and again. Usually after some sort of imbalance in my tank. Last one was ATO getting stuck on. Usually dissipates after a few months. Cleaning the sand bed seems to help the most.

I have used Chemiclean before with anenomes and had no issues. I would not hesitate to use it again if need be.

My ~10 rainbow BTAs were happy before, during and after the treatment.
I had really bad spirulina and Chemiclean got rid of it. I've never seen such a positive radical change in my tank. The only radical changes besides this have been for worse. I'm not sure if it works as good with other types of cyano but hopefully it works for you too.

Started Chemiclean treatment with 25 scoops
Chemiclean treatment with extra dose (25 scoops instead of 19). Kept filter floss, stopped UV and carbon, removed skimmer cup and kept skimmer, added 2 air stones from the big battery backup air pump.

Completed Chemiclean treatment with 20% water change
40 gallon water change after 3 days 7 hours. Chemiclean results were fantastic, it got rid of all the stuff on my substrate (mainly spirulina) without adverse effects to fish, inverts, algae, etc.

I would very much consider getting a phosphate test. Hanna ulr phosphate or phosphorus are the best, but there are some decent cheaper ones (but much harder to read)

The Hanna checker is SO much better than the others that you should not be tempted, even for a second, to go with something else. This is an incredible reefing item. Lol sales pitch over.

I'm colorblind so it's basically my only option since for some reason phosphate tests are so hard to read even for normal vision lol
