Technically they're mammals right?
By the laws of phylogeny everything that evolved from something else is still technically that thing. For example all birds are technically dinosaurs. Since mammals (and reptiles, birds, and amphibians) evolved from lobe finned fish. We are all technically fish.

Nope - it's an Oplegnathus, family name is "knifejaw" I think. I got them from a collector in Japan. These lose the stripes as they mature - and just turn gray. I saw a different species in the Galapagos that is bright yellow and black banded:

I went to the Galapagos last year and it was amazing
