Totally disagree my feeling is 100 minimum from everyone I have asked
this thread is a meeting of the trolls...

Until OP posts a picture of the exact tank and fish listed in the original post, I will be sure of it.

why is it too small for all the fish and just not the tang

Given you posted a picture, I imagine th LFS meant it was fine in theirs because it would be sold soon. I've heard the same from an LFS that had 2 koles in a 5 gallon fluvial display.

Aside from the space needed for the fish to swim without stress, It's too small from a scientific perspective because you need about 1 lb of live rock per gallon of tank in order to give beneficial bacteria enough surface area to colonize. You need a certain amount per first to absorb the waste from your live stock. A 10 gallon tank doesn't have enough space to add enough live rock in the tank to really keep more than a single small fish.

really just 15?
They're pulling your leg because we all thought you were trolling at first. It needs at very minimum 75 gallons as its a smaller species of tang but 100 gal plus is preferred. Your clowns by themselves are going to tax a 10 gal tank's bioload. You may need to upgrade to a 20 gal (after rehoming the tang) depending on the max size of the goby.

Its 10 pounds per gallon. He needs a tank stretcher. Or at least one for the tang. I am a paramedic and will come down there right now in my Semi
Great now I gotta try fitting 1500 pounds of rock into my 150 gal tank... XP

I’m actually shocked this wasn’t a troll, I apologize. Ya you will either need to give that to your dad or upgrade tanks in the very near future. I think the biggest piece of advice to give you would be to do your research before you go into the store and know what you are buying. Will save you from bad situations and wasting money in the long term.

No it's 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. 10 inches total can go in that tank.
So he can have a 10” tang in there? That “rule” is not a good or correct rule.

The problem with this oldschool rule is a 10 inch fish going in a tank that's 20 inches long. Imagine a 10 inch long fish in a 10 gal tank...
