They tend to be kinda mean, are disease prone, and tend to like really big tanks. Could work, but it Def wouldn't be my first choice

I’m going to do the special PBQT for him and I'm really trying to learn as much as I can about them before I pull the trigger on it.
In your research, you're going to find a lot of info corroborating what we are saying here lol. Not a great choice for your stock list and tank size, especially not for a first tank.

Hope you heed that research

I would avoid a hippo. Big fish and holy heck do they get ich like no body’s business and Ive found are hard to keep. Powder blue I had in this exact tank, went nuts and murdered fish. Rehomed. They are VERY aggressive. Good luck finding that eel… I havnt actually seen any in stock in a few years now. A snowflake is a good option if you want a good beginner eel. Very hardy. Any eel will eat your shrimps though so get rid of those.
