This looks nice too. With so many choices, its hard to decide which one works best!I been looking at these also for my sump. I think I prefer the ones from saltwateraquarium.com that only have holes on the bottom, not the sides. I want the water to fully go through the floss before exiting. Makes me wish I had a 3D printer, lol.
Well, with this info from your experience, you make a good point!I have and tried the acrylic filter cup that Octo Lids make with just the holes on the bottom for my other tank and I ended up shelving it. It clogged way to easy. I think that the Red Sea cups are much better with a higher flow capability IME.
Glass marbles...great idea also! Thanks!I use a Red Sea cup, i run just standard filter floss in it but i have a hand full of glass marbles in the bottom of the cup to prevent clogging and hold the floss higher.
Was running socks about 6 months (yes, I think they are a pain to clean as well) and my fuge started working so well I couldn't keep nitrates in the tank. Pulled the socks and started running nothing there and was able to keep nitrates at 5ppm. I was planning to go with these cups and nothing in the bottom just to catch any snails or large items that fall to the sump.
Ye
I can see running socks every once in a while to polish the water but no need in my tank.
