So this thing was swimming around and I caught it, any ideas of what it is please, it's very tiny, has a clear mushroom like top with dark like feet but it flaps and swims??

Unsure how to post longer video but I will try

Hydroid jellyfish. They usually show up in new tanks, and quickly die off.
Thanks, Unsure if it's hydroid (picture) but maybe I'll see when my blue lights turn on. my aquarium is 4years old. I assume it was an hitchhiker from a mushroom I added beginning of April

Hydrozoan jellyfish and more and more of these show up this time of the year and have to be siphoned out with 1/4" tubing and discarded. At times they colonize in a dark area making it hard to reach them. They are harmless otherwise and not long lived- just a nuisance. Their tentacles are stick which is why water flow does not affect them much

Its an upside down jellyfish. I have had them in my tank as well. They go through stages, right before they are free swimming they are attached to rocks usually.

This is what they look like before they go into their swimming stage.

I think this is what it is.. medusa stage., I have only had one aiptasia (that I have seen) on a new frag 2 months ago ... which I removed (cut off/removed/ intact/ without touching it)

Do these medusa jelly fish harm corals or fish, also what do I look out for meaning how do I find early stages on my rocks, thanks

Fish, specifically butterflies will feast on them. They will probably never be gone, I have a CBB that eats them alot, and still have the polyps in places the CBB cannot get. I dont think its hydroids that you have. I think its upside down jellies.

Regardless how sure the others in this thread are, it doesn't have to be a jellyfish from hydroids. It can also be introduced with artemia etc.

I have some collonial jellyfish in my tank. Was even able to made a frag of them but they are very fragile.

The medusa are even more fragile and die in a few days no matter what i did
