Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a balling method to improve the stability of my aquarium's parameters, but the recommendations suggest balancing the parameters before starting with balling through water changes or other products.

I'd like to know what products or methods I could use to increase my calcium and magnesium levels. Here are the latest readings of my reef:
If there are any seachem products would be better because i live in Brazil
  • Tpa is purchased from a store and they told me they use a salt called Coral Pro (I believe it's from Red Sea).
  • The funny thing is that my parameters don't seem to go higher than they are now when using this salt.
  • My reef is 50 liters, and I have LPS, soft corals, and an SPS frag that I was gifted.
  • KH: 7.8
  • MG: 1200
  • CA: 360
I believe these parameters are too low for SPS and LPS corals, right?

They are not too low to sustain corals. But not ideal for maximum growth. There are tons of options for calcium and magnesium dosing. You will need 2 different products, one for each. Seachem reef fusion part 1 will do calcium. Seachem magnesium will do magnesium. Just follow the instructions on the bottle. Aim for 420 ppm calcium and 1350 ppm magnesium. If you can get BRS general magnesium adjust, that would be a better option than the seachem magnesium.

BRS = Bulk Reef Supplies. It's here in the USA.

You could use calcium Chloride and Magnesium sulfate also. As long as it's pure. I use epsom salt for the magnesium part. I just made sure it does not have perfumes or anything else in it.
I have snow melt for my driveway(you don't have that in Brazil) that I use for calcium.

I will suggest AFR (All for Reef), which contains supplements for both alk and cal. It can help ease some dosing worries.

If you already purchased balling supplements than you already have magnesium and Calcium supplements in there.

I believe what the instructions are saying is that you shouldn’t start dosing it in equal parts, but rather to stabilize your parameters first by dosing only, or slightly more from the elements you need to elevate.

What is the exact supplements you purchased?

This wouldn’t allow him to elevate elements separately, but it is a decent alternative to the balling method (which was in fact invented by Balling as well).
