Mine sorta gets quiet when the filter sock needs changing, but that just because of the water being so high. Maybe if you extend the return so it could be below the water line might quiet it some.

A Herbie overflow adjusted so that the water level is just below the teeth is dead silent.

+1 Truly it is, you will be amazed.

Plus far fewer bubbles into the sump. Check it out on the web. That or bean animal if you have three holes to work with.

The one I have is just an up side down U with a little hole in the top of the elbow. You raise it up and down to adjust the water level.

I totally understand the restricted time issue. Let me know when you take to Rob. I can swing by his place a pick some up.

Gladfelter I have to work late most nights this week. Thanks for the offer to help with the overflow. Maybe on your next round of days off. Do you know when you plan on taking the calcium to Robs?? He, Cory and myself are in need of some.

use a savvy ghost overflow, when yo plumb it use a ball valve in the drain line to contro water levels and the last end put it under the water level of the sump. Mine is dead quiet. Here are some pics of mine:

I have something similar on my lifereef hob overflow.

Ball valve on the drain line.

End of the drain below the surface of the water in the sump.

Use the valve to maintain the water level above the top of the drain in the overflow until it creates a full water siphon.

It doesn't pull any air and is dead silent.
