How to customize mesh lid to fit around light mounts

I got a Cade aquarium that came with a mesh lid. It fits well, but not when I want to mount things like lights. It did come with extra fittings, but it looks to me like only the corners come apart so I'm not sure what the expected method is for using the extra fittings to customize around mounts.

Am I supposed to cut into the metal to make room for the extra fittings?
Is there a common tool or trick for taking the mesh out safely, and then re tightening it? I'd rather not buy a roller that will only be used once for this lid.
Customer support only told me "The extra fittings modify the jump net to go around the light mounts" but didn't have instructions.

Yes. You chose the correct offset (if there's 2 different length offset fittings - the "Z") and you cut out for the light bracket (keep it tight enough that fish won't be able to jump through but loose enough you can get it around the bracket).

Install either a 90° and a small section of frame material and another 90° on each side OR use the "Z" fittings if they're the right size and then cut a piece of frame material to connect the two sides.

If you have more than 2 lights you'll likely have to purchase additional fittings. 2 "Z"s or 4 90°s per light.
