I ask bc true hard to eradicate it, and even with coraline i still gots red cyano. i tried a dose of chemiclean which helped for a time but also took some coral down. I'm dosing Phyto and copepods. but maybe it will go away with time, or will it always be there?

It should not come back after chemiclean. Cyano is a bacteria so dosing bacteria like MB7 will help, but its possible you also need to increase the flow, it likes low flow tanks.

Also, many folks confuse cyano for dino's, which chemiclean doesn't work for, so ensure you properly ID'd the problem.

Its really not clear to me why and how we get cyano, but cyano IME is relatively easy to get rid of with chemiclean.

Ive found it’s always there it’s just a case of using coral to fight it (coral will use up cyano’s food source you just need a big enough amount).

Following as I have a recent (first time), unexpected, cyano outbreak in a 3 year old tank with no significant shifts as obvious signs for "why" it happened.

I'm just going with manual removal the best I can for now.
No negative effects to corals that I've observed so far, but we'll see.
*Chemi Clean scares me but I know many have used it before with success -- not for me (yet)

To answer your first question, yes, it can be detrimental to coral health if it gets out of hand because it changes the microbiome to favor algal growth over coral growth. Just do everything you can to keep it to a minimum.
