I have a few too many Xenia in my tank and i want to thin it out and trade/sell it... but how can i get it off my rocks without actually breaking up the rock? id like to not kill it, but i do want to remove a good bit from my tank

I've cut them off with a razor blade and glued them to new rocks. With the area on the rocks that I cut off of that don't want growing back, I just mix a small batch of kalk paste(kinda thick) and baster place it on the area I want to get rid of.

You can also put a piece of rubble rock directly on top of the xenia, let it go for a couple of weeks and the xenia will move to the rubble and voila!

i started placing tiles next to/on top of the "stalks".. kinda wanted them to transfer over....but my LFS told me i couldnt cut them...buttt... . that was my first thought... to just cut them low to the base and attatch them to a rock or plug.. will i have to worry about them putting anything into the tank (chemical wise) if i cut them? i would hate for them to put off somethign that would hurt my tank. i just wanna keep them as under control as i can so they dont take over the tank (its only 24gallons so not much room)
