Great additions, they look really healthy. :)
Fingers crossed!

So far everything is happy and healthy; good PE on all my frags including the new.

I actually removed the purple monti and a nana off the left hand ledge on the right island.

The spots too much of a premium space for "duplicates" etc.
It's freed up a nice space.

Completed a water change today which was also overdue (but also made me realise I need more salt! Always something..)

I'm considering perminantly mounting a few more pieces soon enough and moving on some of my "junk" pile (broken monti digi branches and monti's etc) to my local LFS.

I've also got a big green montipora digi that I need to move on. It just don't really have any space in the tank any more.

All in all things are going well.

So with the good there has to be some bad at some point.

Earlier in the week we found our male spotted mandarin dead one morning; it was fine the night before (spawning) and was a healthy weight (not skinny etc)

But we have no idea what caused it, a wack perhaps or tangled with the cover net who knows, to say Liz was upset was an understatement given they were part of a project she wished to persuit.

And to comlicate things as we were on our way out to an LFS we noticed our foxface this morning was looking decidedly odd compared to normal.

SO as a precaution we fish trapped it and going to give it some alone time in the sump, bizarrely it looks alot better in the jug as we were trapping and transferring buy we both agreed to sump it for a few hours and re evaluate.

Sorry to hear about the mandarin, sad times. :(
Yea it was pretty crappy thing to start a Monday morning on, admittedly given how long it too us to source a confirmed male we've put a few feelers out to my local LFS and friend to keepan eye out for another, given the pods and overall health in the tank we can only assume it's a freak accident, we are however considering moving The St Thomas mushroom on it's just a little...too elephant ear and quick closing up for my liking and the male mandarin was found a few inches from; no evidence that it was the St Thomas I just had a feelling for a while now.

We were just finishing decorating the house and discussing a phyto/rottlifer/pod culturing area to attempt to raise a spawn too. Ah well back to the drawing board, that male is seriously missed and a big blow to Liz's breeding side project.

I will not go to another LFS before payday

On brighter news I can blame this one (almost) solely on Liz XD

I can also attest that that box of sps is by far my most expensive LFS purchase ever (for corals only/Fish).

Looks like you have a busy day ahead of you!

Any update on the Foxface?

Ok so this was the piece that I just couldn't leave behind; a pink table form (possibly A hyacinthus) with blue tips, my friend LFS advised the more he's been moving it to the light the bluer the tips.

This was the interesting piece that Liz wanted, it has the bonus that it has an acropora crab (infact the first in the tank) which is one of my favourites.

Then finally a "Hyper" SSC

A slightly browned out Icefire Echi which I managed to divert from his display tank to ours!

Finally the unknown freebie frag which is a frag from his personal display tank, Apparently it's doing some weird and wonderful stuff in his so he wanted to see if it does the same in mine. No idea what it is, at the time my friend at the LFS said he thought it was an A. Nana but the growth he's getting would suggest otherwise

Unfortunately last night, we found the foxface dead on the sand bed. Again we don't know what happened to the foxface ad it continued to act in a strange way after we put it back in the tank. There was no signs of respiratory distress and all other inhabitants are well.

What is more irritating is the fact we cannot identify the cause of death to prevent further issues. just going to take things very slowly and continue to test. there is not much else we can do.

One death (especially with it being a mandarin), that happens overnight, one can pluck up to being bad luck; two deaths although circumstances seem different (the foxface was peaky for a good 48hours) makes us more suspicious. The only difference seems to be the dosing of trace elements etc and as I said, all inverts (shrimps, corals, clam, snails etc) are all ok as are all other fish.

I'm sorry you lost him. Those Foxface live up to the Magnificent label. :(

With no outward signs, it does make cause of death difficult. Hopefully everything else stays healthy!

Yes it's weird one; we certainly don't intend on adding or changing anything any time soon? I intend to continue dosing the CE trace elements given that inverts are fine etc.

The foxface was super stressy for 48 hours or so (full blown camo/stress marking etc) and was obviously stressing but we couldn't figure out what was causing it.

We'll continue to monitor all corals, fish and inverts etc closely.

Thought people maybe interested; here's the last 30 days trend,

Black spots are where it's double tested because Alk varied by more then 0.3 (because I dosed 75-100ml of alk solution ether in the morning or the afternoon most days (150-200ml Alk aday consumption; 81mg bicarb in 1 litre of r.o))

Red spots are where the Alkatronic dosed alk solution on automatically because it detected that Alk would dip below my threshold.

White spots are reading where no corrective measure.

Nice control and I don't do that testing nonsense! ;)

... that is the one piece of kit I could do with if I'm honest, my random splash of alk solution every morning could probably do with improving! ;)

You can really see at the start my chronic "eh my Alk is low but I'll throw a random amount in when I remember" to "geez I need to dose significantly more alk then u thought..." to the ritual 2x a day...
