No I haven't checked this but i'm sure I can figure this out with one of my dad's test kits. If it is not in the correct range what should I do ?
Alkalinity is consumed by corals as they grow - not all corals, but I think I see a few in your tank that qualify. Your dad probably had a way to adjust it when needed. First let's see what the alkalinity is at and we can go from there.

The picture of the tank and sump is helpful. Is there a way to get a picture of all the little things you think he used: additives, test kits, things like that? We could help you sort through it and tell you what it is for.

To help your mom to maintain the tank. You can get auto water change kits and things that make the maintenance a little easier. I dont use one but I'm sure someone on here can point you in the right direction to make life a little easier for her.
Thank you thats a great idea!

I've shown her how to do this but if I can get this automated that would be brilliant & allow me to do larger volumes.
