sorry, didn't know where to post this
My princess peach frogspawn in not opening and the branches that are supposed to be a tan, peach color, are green, its showing its skeleton, my monti is randomly bleaching at small spots, my yuma mushroom is not opening, and ye. My water is a bit cloudy, Ive done 2 30% water changes in the past 2days and nothing has happened(started off with a 10% 2 days ago, that did nothing, then noticed cloudy water, did a 20%, now this morning, a 30%) the 10% was a normal water change, all levels were correct, calc was DEAD LOW, so dosed that, alk was 12, idk mag, got too scared when I saw the calc so just dosed, But the big water changes changed no chemistry, just made the water less cloudy. Hope you can help.
But please
dont say anything about the water changes, ik, I should not have done those big ones, but it did not change any chemistry at all, or levels.
thanks you,
Stewy

ps, its a 11.4 gal aio, and for 2 days last week, I fed reefroids by the teaspoon...

Do you temp match your water before doing the water changes? Are you buying salt water or making it yourself?

How do you know it didn’t change your water “chemistry or levels” at all? You have test numbers from before and after the water changes? If yes please post them.

Also, I would recommend you stop dosing in total. I highly doubt your are having enough consumption of Alk and Calcium that you need to do anything other than stay up to date with your water changes.

Dosing is a very specific thing that if not done properly can wildly throw off your water chemistry

with the stop dosing, what if my levels are not right?

If the levels aren’t right then they aren’t right in your pre mixed salt water. What Alk, Calc and Mag does your saltwater mix to?

How did you get to the numbers you are currently dosing?

Did you test every day for a week to get a good baseline of daily alk consumption? After the initial baseline and dosing did you test every other or every 3rd day to make sure your tank was actually consuming as much as you think it was?

I tested every week, then did math, and figured out that every 2 days I should add 1.5 ml of afr into tank
but I missed a couple of dosing days last week, and I think its also cuz of the feeding corals

So just an example, your alk starts at 12 with your salt, you have very little alk consumption but you keep dosing all daily…. Your dkh is going to jump over 13 and your calcium is going to fall to nothing. Which is what seemingly happened. My personal advice if you want to use a high alkaline salt is to not dose.

Nothing, you’ve done your water changes. You have your levels “where you want them”. Now like most things in this hobby you wait patiently. making more aggressive moves with your tank isn’t going to help any of your stressed corals.

You also said your light is “high” what light are you using? What sort of par are your corals getting? A recent full tank shot would be helpful

You have fed reef roids by the teaspoon for the past 2 days, yet you don't know your phosphate level but sure its low? I feed about an 8th of teaspoon to my 40 gallon, you likely fouled your water by doing this in a such a small tank.

It sounds like your reefing practice is all over the map..... I think you should do some more research, then formulate a proper plan of action to maintain your reef. This "learning as you go" is not working out.
