Help my powder blue

It could be many different things. One thing I have learned with coral and fish is that sometimes there is no explanation. Sometimes things just die. Sorry.

There is no way, we have had him for a year and no new fish or anything. He was the king of the tank and never stressed, He ate out of my hand always. Having a 120g tank did not cause this IMO. Something is wrong with his nervous system. Ther eis no way he would go downhill in under 10 hours from a tank "being to small". He was normal the night before, doing his figure 8's around the 2 Votechs MP40's, that was his favorite thing to do and it was fun to watch. He ate like normal.

It could have been brought on by stress from to small of a living environment.

Ive read plenty of times from people w/ first hand experience that they may do well in something smaller than a 300 but in time, premature death is inevitable...

Mike-mine is going on 5 yrs so I know the attachment and am sorry to hear about your problem with yours- the acanthrus are so colorful and so fun to watch-but mean as heck. When they go down hill they go fast it seems. Was anyone bothering him at night by chance to stress him out? Hard to say otherwise if you had him for a yr already. =(

I don't think it was the size either. PBT's IMO are fine in a 120g as long as there are minimal fish living with it.

I am going to have a hard time putting a live fish in the freezer....

I've had fish come back "to life" that were barely moving due to various reasons... granted most of the time they were fresh off the plane from transit, but you never know. I wouldn't kill it personally...

You never know on size though, they're a high, high energy fish and he very possibly nailed his head on a rock or the tank itself when he became spooked or just swam right into the glass/rocks... that would explan why you cannot figuire out what caused it - if all tank parameters are fine, he appears fine regarding bite marks and so on, that's actually a likely cause. I've seen more than one fish break it's neck or back doing this, including one of my own fish at home. You see lots of crazy, abnormal, "unlikely" things when you're surrounded by thousands of fish for years...

That's a bummer! One of the worst things in walking in to a LFS a seeing dead fish in the tanks.

Sorry you lost a great fish. I just lost an Orange tail damsel out of all thinks he chocked to death on a piece of dried krill that got stuck in his throat.

Thanks all. I wish i could of gotten video of him doing figure 8's around 2 MP40s. He would do all kinds of tricks in the current, 360's and everything. It was a sight to see.

I know its little cosolation, but at least you didn't have to put him in the freezer, only thing worse than a sick animal is putting one down........:cry:.

not 2 uncommon 8 out of 10 collected die, they need huge tanks 220 or larger and u need to have a u.v. handy
