Hi, hope you all are having a nice day! I was doing my weekly maintenance on my tank and realized that there are a ton of these little worms in my tank, will attach video of them and photos. Not sure if it's normal or do I get rid of them. Appreciate your help! 20240226_214550.jpg 20240226_214530.jpg

These are flatworms and pics are dark in blue to tell what type. Most flatworms in numbers can smother bases of coral and block the needed light for production of zooxanthellae which is their energy source.
Removal can be accomplished by siphoning them with a 3/8" tubing into a nylon stocking and discard
OR
Add a wrasse such as Yellow coris, 6 line, lunare or malanurus OR even a springieri damsel which will eat them

With the number you have, for the next 2 weeks you will have to look for eggs and scrape off as there is likely some and would be future acoels. Eggs are really tiny

How do you think they got in?

Did you recently add live rock, if so, which kind?

New coral frags?

Sand from someone else tank?

I have looked all over the internet, and nothing... Would be nice if I could narrow it down more.

That's a fantastic question! I did recently purchase a few new corals so I definitely think that was how they got in! Thank you so much for your help, learn something new everyday

Wow! Thank you so much for bringing ease to my mind, you are the best!!!! This is exactly what I think it is and I will be taking your advice and I think adding a Wrasse is a perfect idea! Out of the options you described, what one would you recommend the most for me? My tank is the Waterbox 110.4 that is about 80 gallons of display. My tank is about 4 months old, so far I only have a clownfish, Midas blenny, and a cleaner shrimp. Im trying to keep things peaceful while also reef friendly. Thank you so much for your help!

Happy Wednesday! I actually ended up purchasing a 6 line and the number of worms appears to be slowing down, so that is fantastic! But I have a couple questions, hoping you could help! Since I now own the 6 line, could I still add the Yellow Wrasse you suggested, even before this happened I was still in love with his design. Also, where would you recommend purchasing the supplies needed for siphoning the rest out. As far as I can tell there are only a few left on the glass that show up every few days instead of many in bulk. Thank you so much for all of your help! Keep on staying positive, talk soon!

For siphoning, you need a basic style even at walmart
Yellow coris should do well with 6 line. If 6 line poses an issue, isolate it in sump for 7-10 days

You can search the internet on putting a 6 line with a yellow coris wrasse, and everyone's experience will be different.

Some say it works fine, others say it did not end well.

This all depends on the fishes personality, and the tank size, so really, it's your call, but personally I would not take the risk.
