Hello - I recently purchased this fish as a Filamented Flasher Wrasse but It looks more like a Carpenter Wrasse? The part that stood out not being a Filamented was the tail - it looks noticeably different between both fish.

Another suspicion was that the LFS had a very small Red Sea 8 line wrasse that was being sold as a filamented female wrasse.

While I’m fine keeping this fish as a Carpenter, the Filamented had a price that is $50-$60 more expensive than a Carpenter.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Paracheilinus rubricaudalis without a doubt.
Here’s mine;

If he’s in QT currently then I recommend only doing observation first if you don’t - these fish can struggle under treatment and if it’s unnecessary than you’re risking a very nice fish.

@i cant think perhaps consider adding the common name along with the scientific name, for those less familiar with wrasse.
Your IDs are spot on, though!

Oh wow, 100% spot on. Thank you!

He’s in QT and I was planning to dose only General Cure and skip copper altogether (except for the Tang). He did have stringy white poop, so I’ll need to med his food too.
