Nassarius don't need much depth, sand sifters don't need a lot of depth, sand sifting starfish would need more but with your tank size you'd have a hard time keeping one of those fed.

As per instructions I weighed out enough salt to make 13 gallons of 33 ppt. Let it run 12 hours, calibrated the refractometer and its 40 ppt!!! I was going to just add extra salt to slowly raise it up, but I guess I'm doing water change already. Did confirm with 2nd refractometer and 2nd bottle of refracto juice.

Water and salt

Ps., since you don't have an overpacked scape, have you considered a TBS (Tampa Bay Saltwater) premium rubble treasure box? Not sure your feelings about potential pests, but that rock (and sand if you get that too) will jump start that system!

I have. It comes with Dr Tim's which I have never tried before.

I had looked at TBS and there treasure chest, but I don't want to put 5 more lbs in. I really wanted to keep space for LPS on the sand bed. I wish they could just do a 2lb pack. Also I'm curious to see how no upfront water changes will work with Dr Tim's vs daily for a week.

That being said I have a bag of sand and box of dry rock leftover Im willing to trade for a frag in the future.

I dont think dosing is necessary in such a small tank
11 gal over here, rarely ever dose, wc's do enough, lid is a must, net, yes!!!!! ato, u can make one with a water bottle, not really needed, qt, the tank I feel like is too small for qt needed, u can just use a bucket ig
but yes!!!! all this yes!!!!! and more salt too!
maybe even a ammonia tester(the stick on ones)
even better sand? looks very fine the sand included

I ended up picking up a bottle of TM All For Reef already, and was going to do WCs every 4 weeks, dosing in between as needed.

Working on 3d printing a lid, with some help from the 3d Cad team in one of the other threads on here.

I was going to post about the Poor Man's ATO, since that was my plan, an upside down bottle. But I do go away for up to 3 weeks sometimes, so I was thinking about more water capacity for the longer trips.

Came with Aquaforest salt, not really sure whats best for nanos?

I do have plenty of buckets, and pumps, etc so QT is covered.

The sand is Caribsea Fiji Pink.
