@Johnd651 stand looks great!!! Sorry about the broken tank, hope they give you a new one. Are you going to stain or at least polyurethane the wood to preserve it?

I should have some pieces left of the house baseboard trim, so I will route out the holes for the door, trim out the top and bottom with baseboard, corner bead, and spray the whole thing white to match the house (& seal it in).@Johnd651 stand looks great!!! Come on by.Nice job! I wish I had power tools to make my own stands, I was looking for one for a cube tank as well and same problem, they are all skinny or the one I found was made of the cheapest particle board.
Interesting thing about power tools:
You can buy them at Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Amazon, Sam's Club and Costco (sometimes)...
I'm kidding (sorta). It's nice having power tools when you need them but storage and maintenance can be a pain.
You could just buy long drill bits.Saw an interesting article on the internet about making a cordless drill water resistant a few years ago. Don’t remember how it was done except any leaks into the motor and it’s finished. Be nice to drill into the rock structure to slide frag plug pegs into holes.
@Johnd651 you got me there!!! Much better than ruining a drill. You could just buy long drill bits.
Never thought of it until you said that, but I buy them for running wire in walls.
@Johnd651 & @tbrown yeah the waterproofing would definitely cause some heating issues therefore greatly reducing the lifespan of the drill. Find some derelict drill at a second hand shop and dedicate it for special purpose.Yeah, I'd think in water proofing you'd have a high potential for overheating the drill unless you found a way to water cool it instead of air cooling.
So many moving parts to try to seal up and still have to have that air flow around them.
I think that's the controller board that he won with the tank in the giveaway.@Johnd651 stand is looking great!!! Are you going to use that controller board for this build? Is that a custom made Top Shelf Aquatics sign? What’s the story there? I find the boards very handy.

No controller yet. For now I will run with the AIO. I was going to mount the controller board for power brick management, but I might go with a TP link surge protector instead.@Johnd651 nice touches with the baseboard house trim and corner trim. Are you going to run a controller with this build since you already have a controller board?
