There are so many beautiful creatures we have the pleasure of caring for in our reefs, but it seems like the more rare or uncommon it is, the more striking it is! Let's talk about our rare and uncommon reef friends! Yes, I said rare, not illegal or endangered...:grimacing-face:

I don't have anything rare, but I want something! A weaping willow toadstool. From what I've heard and read, it can be hard to find a genuine one.

I'm assuming you intended to add any undescribed species as well in your OP. :D

I got a Palau green finger colony in '97 a year before El Nino killed most of the sinularia in '98. It thrived in my tanks and a colony was donated to the Texas State Aquarium. Investigating the FALSE rumors of it's extinction in 2010 (it was also typically misidentified as nepthia) I found a taxonomist to identify what I was keeping. Turns out I had one of several species of finger type Sinularia and one of 6 new species identified by van Ofwegen in 2008. So for a decade I had an undescribed species in my tanks. :)

I have a couple bubble corals. Ones branching from LRO. They're kind of rare don't see them come available often.

The branching one he's a small guy right now.

This is my other bubble.

That green bubble is sweet.....I have been looking for something similar for a while.

I'd like to get a Saron Marmaratus shrimp for my mixed reef someday. They have some stunning textures, but it's not often I hear of people that keep them

Not rare, but I have never seen these in the aquarium trade. I have kept a juvenile Cobia (it had a striped fan-tail like a guppy), a Juvenile Amberjack, a Triple Tail and a Short Bigeye. The bigeye is an awesome fish!

Short Bigeye. Not my photo.

See…these suckers are cool but I feel like I’d walk downstairs at night and see this big red eye peaking out from behind a rock and that’d be spooky.

I am not sure, but I do not think Acrozoanthus australiae is commonly kept. I love this guy. These are old photos.

This guy. Our resident r2r experts couldn't id it, so I assume it was very rare :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
He was found guilty of squatting and summarily executed.
