Hi everyone,

I am really struggling with this one, last week I took out every rock and cleaned with a toothbrush and siphoned the sand. And not 1 week later it's covered every inch again. Am I looking at bubble algae or green cyano?

Thanks guys, just assumed bubble algae based on some obviously misdiagnosed photos online.

I would suggest you use a small hose and suck off as much as you can from the rocks then take a turkey baster to blow off all of your rock, while you do a 20-30% water change. Make sure your source water is RODI. Then I would use chemiclean (follow the instructions) and see if that gets it to go away.

Looks to me like standard algae as the periphyton is forming, and the algae is either making oxygen bubbles or there some some micro bubbles swirling around that stuck to the algae.

Hi all, it took 2 doses of chemi clean but it is now gone to be replaced with hair algae that hopefully my 2 tuxedo's will make short work of. Thanks everyone
