GoVols: Berghia Nudibranchs, update of the week...

Well,
As you can see from the above  post, it is hard to capture "live" nudi's in the S 400 filter sock.
I do clean my filter socks and the skimmer's neck / cup, just about every two days.

So, Friday I've caught three dead nudi's and two more today, in my filter sock.

I'm used to turning on the Gyre (to full throttle) and three mixing pumps every Thursday evening to get out all the detritus from the live rock, deep pores.

I've just been doing the Gyre on Thursday evenings since we put in the nudi's. Too scared to have "live" nudi's blowing out of the live rock with the mixing pumps.

Will be staying the coarse until we no longer capture dying off nudi's in the filter sock. Some may still be alive and just want them to do their thing.

Regards, GoVols :)

I only have the returns running and no powerheads in the 45 and 29. So hopefully I won't be seeing this. However I wonder if they can be toxic if left dead in your system.
I don't think their toxic???

But... I know that most fish pass on eating them because they taste so bad. My Stripy was like no way and he'll eat about anything. :)

Lol picturing that in my head it's funny!

Some nudibranch are toxic when they die and some aren't. That's why I was wondering. Although they might raise your no.3 levels if you have enough of them dying in your system. I think when everything is said and done with mine and going to turn the power heads on full blast just to be sure [emoji12]

GoVols: Two poster of the night...

Welp,
If you have not noticed in some of the shots, my GFO reactors sponges are worn out and the media is sliding up the chamber. :(
Could not find any replacement sponges anywhere for that reactor.

So, Sent an email to AquaMaxx and they had 1 sponge, not 1 set, but one sponge???

So, (lol) here's the new (1) sponge and GFO reactor.

That's weird. One would think they'd have a halfway decent supply of them. Seriously you can't pay the only one needing them LOL

Lol,
I blew them up in the email. They will email back when they have more.

Maybe the Phosban Reactor's sponge size, will fit???

But... Jackie,
How do you sell a product and don't keep the spare parts in stock, in the US???

I couldn't agree with you more Freddie! Maybe you could call BRS and see if they would be able to tell you if they're the same size and fit in the meantime.

Jackie,
I'll give BRS a call with the chamber's and down pipe's hole width.

When I bought the reactor Marine Depot had the replacement sponges on their website, and now they don't.

I went "Banana - Split" on them and AquaMaxx about the replacement sponges.

AquaxMaxx makes some wonderful products at great price points but, how in the world do you not keep the sponges in production and in stock?

@MrMichael

On your old thread it seems that a lot IPC machines vary from one to the other.
Your "Blue Bucket" nailed your last report and my results are coming to the same with the "My Batch" report.

When I go back to the RPM mix, what lab did you use?

Or should I send a sample to Triton labs when I mix the first batch of the RPM, for a more detailed report?

Thanks, Freddie

I jumped on ICP-Analysis immediately after they opened for business. I didn't do any research on the company, the owner, or previous reports before making my order.

My reports have been fine, but there have been some bad reports and the R2R thread between the owner and our resident expert Randy was not a positive discussion. To be fair to ICP-Analysis, when users complained about bad reports, they offered to redo them.

The decision comes down to price. If you buy in bulk, you can get two ICP-Analysis tests for every Triton test. In that regard, maybe they are appropriately priced. Triton is clearly better, but with ICP you could check your water 2x as often. If you use ICP-Analysis as a 'canary in the coal mine' rather than a definitive report, I can see the benefit over Triton. If you want definitive report, then it's Triton at 2x the cost.

It's $25 or $50 per test, you decide.

EDIT: The big 3 are the least likely to get screwed up to. So if you mostly want to check the top 3 rather than the trace elements, then that benefits ICP. If you want to check for toxic elements or trace, I think that favors Triton.

Micheal,
I just want one test so I guess, I'll do the Triton.

Thanks, Freddie
