Good morning. Well yesterday was not how I was planning to spend hours of my day. Narrowed my heater problem down to the heater itself. Had an old extra one in the closet so installed it for now and ordered a new heater element. A few minutes later Apex is sending notifications again! My whole tank was dead this time. Since I just installed the old backup heater I figured that must be bad. Took it out and reset everything but still no power. After process of elimination by plugging things into a different outlet I figured it out. It fried my Trip Lite Isobar. So glad I have that on my tank and everything plugged into it otherwise it could have fried all my equipment. Guess it did it’s job!! Ordered a new one of those too and went to LFS for a new backup heater. They don’t have the Finnex 800 watt heater elements bars I use so got a 500watt Ehiem heater for backup until my new heater comes in next week. It is just hanging inside the tank cause it is too long to put in the sump. Everything is running again but no surge protection right now. It will be here today. I highly recommend one of these as they are so much better protection than the other so called surge protection power bars. More expensive but so worth it! Before I had one of these my red dragon return pump controller was fried due to a power outage and surge. Someone else recommend these to me. So glad I got it!

hi, i have used these for years 8-10+ ,these two models specifically. never failed yet "knocks on wood 2x"
saved eq ,and cpu's more times than i can count,
i'm sure you're aware of the reset button on side,am unsure but believe inside reset is A ,a fuse or fusible link
never opened one yet. "knocks 2 more x", lol
but googling just now seen the L. lifetime warranties, might be worth a read .
have a great day... :)

No reset button visible on the outside of mine. Will have to open it up and look inside. My husband was planning on taking it apart anyway to look for a fuse but that won’t happened for a couple days.

Good morning!

@MrsBugmaster, sorry about the failure, but I'm glad you were able to figure out the problem! I've had good luck with the Finnex heaters over the years. I'm on my second one in the 90. The old one was still working, but it had been in the tank since 2013 and I didn't want to push my luck!

We had a few fireworks going off last night, but the pup didn't seem too rattled. She does pretty well with thunderstorms, but considering she's still a new rescue and is skittish in general, I'm a little worried about tonight/tomorrow night. I'll have the calming treats ready!

Have a great day! :)

Good morning. New problem today but not with the tanks. The ceiling in my kitchen is dripping! My daughter is taking a shower and it is right about the kitchen. It is a walk in shower with no bathtub. By the look of the ceiling with the paint peeling it has been leaking for a little while now. Don’t know how I didn’t notice it before. Going to try and recaulk her shower first before hiring someone to tear the whole thing out and fine the leak. She is not happy we told her she couldn’t use her shower until fixed. And to top it off we are having people staying with us for the weekend. Ugh!

Hope everyone has a great holiday

Good morning...
2 of my long spine urchins are slowly passing away. Slowly growing bald spots. I just looked and it says they live 5 years and I have had them 3. They were full sized when I got them. I have been feeding them sea lettuce in a clip.
More old things to care for.

Lot's of BOOMs at night. Rudy is not a fan. He hides under the bed.
We are getting by.

Good Morning. This morning back in New York, I took a walk. I walked in the Caribbean every morning in the Caribbean but now I have to get re used to home. At least I still have a beach to walk on.

It was overcast this morning about 6:00 so I decided to take a long walk. About 3 miles. It is much harder to walk on this beach than a street because it is made out of pea gravel and larger rocks.

I walked out to that peninsula sticking out of the water near the end of the land. That is actually five WW 1 ships that were wrecked on shore but I have no idea why.

Anyway as I walked I came upon this conch. I turned him over and he was alive.

So I rescued him and threw him back in the sea. I'm sure he is much happier. We have a lot of them here which is why I also found this conch trap.

I kept walking as it was kind of cool and I am very observant and keep looking down to see if I can see something interesting like this ant hill.

Ant hill.JPG

It's like a perfect circle. A couple of feet away I found another one, then another. These must be "beach ants".
I thought for a while why these ants would make these shaped hills on the sand right near each other then it came to me. They were making horse shoe courts to play each other.

I walked on a little farther and came on this ball.

I hope they have fun in middle school and I also hope they learn not to pollute the beach with plastic beach balls. :confounded-face:

Good morning
Have a happy and safe 4th everyone!
We went to friends house on a lake yesterday and today my daughter is having a dozen friends over. My husband usually shoots off the fireworks. But this year since the “kids” are adults now, a couple of them are bringing fireworks too. Told them no homemade fireworks as one guy likes to make his own. I’m a little leery of those kind!

Good morning! Last night did not go well with the pup. The fireworks around here were ridiculous. The calming treats, which usually work well, didn't phase her. It sounded like gunfire alternating with booming cannons. It finally took both of us on either side of the couch giving her a massage to settle her. Whatever works, right?? :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes: Tonight will probably be a repeat, but I'm hoping the worst of it was last night.

Have a great day! :)

Good morning! The corals on a rock I have that is a bit bigger than a softball have been very unhappy and a couple of nights ago after the lights went out I noticed a sci-fi movie like swarm of bristle worms crawling all over them. Yesterday I removed the rock and put h2o2 in the holes and I got out 35 bristle worms. Out of a rock the size of a softball. Wow. I don't even have any fish in there being fed, so I don't know what they were eating.

Hi ReefGrammie. We rented a house on Mustique. A private Island 2 miles long off of Saint Lucia.
Actually our Daughter and Son N Law took us because most mortal people can't afford the place.

It's in this thread, post 7664,
