I'm trying to get my phophate levels down a little hoping it will get the blue colors in my corals to come out a little better. I have the older hanna meter and my levels range from .03 to .09 over the last few months, testing almost daily but at different times of the day, i tried vodka dosing and don't think i stayed with it long enough, I decieded to try gfo and started about 2 weeks ago, over the 2 weeks my levels were .03 to .06, so I decieded a new batch of gfo(running the gfo in a brs reactor). after changing out the gfo and letting the filter run a couple hours I tested the display tank and it came out .03:wink:. I also tested the water coming right out of the reactor and it read .06:tongue: should I be concerned about these small amounts, my tank looks pretty good just with the blue in my blue hoeke would come out. I'm I driving myself crazy for nothing on this po4 testing. Thanks for any advise.

I run my phosphates (also tested with the older Hanna meter) in the .03-.05 levels normally. Your numbers look good. I never get concerned until my levels start to climb above .07. I feed heavily so if my numbers climb to .07 all I have to do is cut back feeding a little for a day or two and it comes back down.

Phosphate tests aren't a whole lot of help. They only test for one type. You have to learn to look for the signs and trust your eyes. If you have to clean a green film off your glass more than once a week you have too much phosphates.
